« RenéGenerations, Object Theatre in the Marolles » Exhibition in the Magritte Museum

From 1st April to 28th May 2014, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium presents, in the film room of the Magritte Museum, photographs of surrealistic short plays created by children and seniors from the Marolles, in partnership with the “Sésame” programme.

The “Sésame” programme of Educateam-Made to Measure Museum, specially designed for social and socio-cultural associations, undertook jointly with “asbl Entr’âges” the RenéGenerations project in 2012/2013.

This project took the form of intergenerational meetings through object theatre with seniors from the “Home des Ursulines” in the Marolles and children from the “asbl Caria et les Ateliers Populaires”. During the holidays, intergenerational workshops around the work of René Magritte were held under the leadership of comedian Babou Sanchez.

The participants, divided in groups, imagined surrealistic stories using objects gathered by the seniors, then, as the Surrealists did, gave those titles. Everyone played the game, performed and posed in front of the camera to share their stories.
